BeOS is based on a Technology concept called the Media OS. The lighweight operating system was designed to deal natively with digital media.

BeOS's claim to fame was the real-time response of its graphical interface, even on low-powered hardware. It also make use of minimalistic approach made it easy to use.

It's database-like BFS file system has indexed attributes and uses a UNIX like in structure.
